Fullblood wagyu Genetics
To have an elite wagyu herd is nonstop work in progress.
We believe in proven wagyu animals, and that EBVs are a tool to make the first selection, but not the last.
Wagyu is very much data-driven. Therefore we select sires and animals that are well known. We have relied on other farmers’ data to get started. We are aware of the data we have been able to get, and therefore we do a lot of data collection, including birthweight, 200, 400, and 600 days weight.
Since data is so important to collect, we also try and bring next-generation bulls into our herd, so we can get data and keep breeding informed and in the right direction.
